Over ons

Our mission

We work with local farmers worldwide from small-scale farming communities who work organically or without residue and always with respect for soil and nature . Our fruits are grown and selected with the utmost care. For example, our citrus fruits are not washed, degreened or waxed and our bananas do not need to go into the ripening room. This ensures authentic freshness and the original taste.

We ensure fast and efficient transport to avoid storage and reduce consumption of raw materials and emissions. But we also want to reduce unnecessary consumption during transport. Some of our products do arrive by plane, but no designated flights are used for them. Our logistics partners organize transport to developing countries of medication and emergency aid. Our shipments fill the empty cargo holds on the way back.

We offer high quality and original products to introduce new flavors into your kitchen. Some of our fruits and vegetables are rare and it is not immediately obvious how to use them. Don't worry, we will give you recipe ideas for food and drinks and leave the rest to your imagination and creativity.

Personally, we attach great importance to a " zero-waste " way of working in our kitchen and in our daily life. Every now and then we also give you tips & tricks on how to use our products and reuse the waste. In this way, we want to encourage society to think about its own consumption and contribute to a better world.

This concept allows us to share our passion for taste , our passion for cooking, our passion for nature and our sincere respect for the environment.

Founded and inspired by...

My motivation is my love for nature. In 2009, after a busy professional life in my native Belgium, I decided to settle in the Pyrénées Orientales at the foot of Mont Canigou in France.

The new environment sparked a passion for agriculture, and more specifically for the unique flavors of the local peaches, nectarines, apricots, tomatoes, and many other fruits.

In 2010, I started, together with Jean-Paul Margalet and some local producers, with the export of ripe harvested fruit as there was a clear, international demand for vegetables and fruits of good quality and taste. “Les goûts d'avant, maintenant” was born and became a success.

In 2016 I took on the challenge of growing tomatoes and special citrus fruits myself. This experience humbled me and gave me even more respect for the expertise and dedication of the producers.

In 2020 I met Frank Van Gelder. Together we decided to share and spread our shared passion for delicious fruits and vegetables. That's how Passion for Taste was born.

It is my dream and personal mission to let as many people as possible enjoy the passion for taste, to share it and to cherish it. In this way we can preserve the unique flavors of fruits and vegetables.
