Orange powder

After you have used the oranges for juice or pulp, you will need to collect the peels. There are many things you can do with citrus peels in general, so this is just one of them: making orange powder.

Remove the white part that is attached to the skin, as this is the bitter part that you do not want to use. Place the orange peel in the oven for about 6 hours at 60° C. This will slowly dry the skin without burning it. For a more ecological (and cheaper!) way, you can also leave it on your radiator to dry overnight.

When the peel is hard and dry, break it into pieces and put it in a blender. Blend a few times on low and high speed until you get very small pieces and powder.

Place the contents in a sieve and shake to collect the powder in a bowl. Keep the larger pieces in another container and mix it with your herbal tea to get a fruity flavor.

  • To be worth it, do this when you have at least 12 oranges
  • The orange powder can be used in a cake or cookie recipe, to flavor a salad, in a homemade exfoliating soap or hair conditioner (if you make it yourself of course), etc.
  • Benefits of Orange Peel: Lowers cholesterol, protects intestinal flora, fights infections, natural anti-inflammatory, strengthens immune system, stimulates hair growth and shine (when used in shampoo or conditioner)
